Julio O. Ramos

Born and raised in Lima, Julio O. Ramos is a Los Angeles based writer and director. He obtained an MFA in Film Directing from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. His student body of work has received top honors by the Directors Guild of America, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, the Television Academy Foundation, and the Ministry of Culture of Peru. His work includes '¡Una Carrerita, Doctor!' and 'Detrás del Espejo.' Both short films, made in his native Peru, screened in over two hundred film festivals around the globe including the Telluride Film Festival, CFC Worldwide Film Festival, and Camerimage Film Festival. They also picked up top awards at the Palm Springs Shortfest, La Habana Film Festival and Zinebi Bilbao Film Festival. '¡Una Carrerita, Doctor!' aired nationwide on KQED’s premier season of Film School Shorts, featuring the best student work across the US, while Detrás del Espejo was acquired by INCAA TV and TAL TV to air in Argentina and Brazil respectively. He is an alum of the Berlinale Talents and of the Sundance-sponsored Latino Screenwriting Project Lab in San Antonio, Texas. His most recent short film, 'Debris,' is currently in the festival circuit. Premiering at the Telluride Film Festival, it has won top awards at the Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival as well as the Nashville Film Festival.
