Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about how Cine Archive works: accounts, privacy, content and what you can watch.

What is Cine Archive?

An open, multilingual film archive: film pages, dossiers, a periodicals library of public-domain magazines, freely licensed cinema to watch online and tools to keep your own personal library.

Do I have to pay or create an account?

No. The whole archive is free to browse without an account. You only need to sign up if you want to save films, write reviews, build lists or follow other people.

Can I watch full films here?

The “Open Cinema” ones, yes: public-domain or freely licensed titles that play right here from the Internet Archive. The rest of the catalogue is a reference: we tell you where they can be watched legally, but we don’t host those films.

Where does the film data come from?

From open sources such as TMDB, OMDb, Watchmode and Wikidata, combined and translated into all five languages. Cine Archive only presents it; it doesn’t sell or resell it.

Who can see my profile, lists and reviews?

Your profile is private by default: you decide who follows you. Each list is private unless you make it public, and only then can it be shared by link. You can change this any time from your account.

What languages is it in?

Five: Spanish, English, Galician, Basque and Catalan. Switch languages from the top menu; the archive’s texts are translated into all five.

What are the Periodicals and the Library?

The Periodicals section gathers public-domain film magazines and newspapers, read right here in the Internet Archive viewer; the Library does the same with books. We also link out to current open-access magazines.

How do I find cinemas?

In “Find your cinema” we look up real cinemas near you on an OpenStreetMap map, with a link to their listings. Data is fetched on the spot and we don’t store your location.

How do I delete my account or my data?

From your account you can edit or delete your reviews and lists any time. To delete the whole account and all its data, write to us and we’ll do it without a trace. The details are in the Privacy Policy.

How do I report a bug or make a suggestion?

Write to contacto@cinearchive.es. We’re especially keen to hear about accessibility issues and broken links in the archive.
